Barista

Kwa’lilas Hotel is seeking a Barista to join our Café team in scenic Port Hardy, on Northern Vancouver Island. The Barista is responsible for greeting guests, taking orders, and preparing and serving hot beverages. The ideal candidate for this position is friendly, outgoing, and has experience working in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience as a Barista is an asset but is not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve specialty coffees, teas, and café foods that meet quality standards.
Properly handle and maintain all equipment
Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and efficient manner
Accurately handle cash and credit card payments, follow appropriate cash-handling procedures
Serve customer quickly and efficiently
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings
Observe relevant health and safety standards.

Experience and Qualifications:

Previous experience as a barista an asset
Retail, hospitality, and/or customer service experience preferred
Ability to read and speak English proficiently
Strong ability to multi-task
Basic mathematical skills
Ability to problem solve quickly
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to follow direction
