Payroll Coordinator - Relocate to Port Hardy, B.C.

k’awat’si Economic Development is looking for an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join our accounting team in Port Hardy on Northern Vancouver Island.

Reporting to the Controller, the payroll coordinator will manage all payroll activities and ensure the timely and accurate payment of employee wages across 8 companies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Payroll conversion
Collecting and verifying employee timesheets
Corresponding with managers about discrepancies or errors in employee timesheets
Computing wages, deductions, benefits, etc.
Work in conjunction with Human Resources for changes in payroll (terminations, new hires, salary increases etc.)
Oversee electronic payments and distribution of payroll checks
Process other financial compensations or deductions (bonuses, severance pay, worker’s compensation, etc.)
Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws.
Provide earnings information for WorkSafe BC & ICBC claims
Produce reports to upper management as requested
Other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications

Degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
3-5 years experience computing payroll
Experience with source deductions, WCB, and Benefit Administration
Exceptional organizational and critical thinking skills
