Pier Side Landing Staff Learns About Local Marine Life

  • 587

Last week, KEDC’s Ecotourism Specialist Karen Steele took the Pier Side Landing team on a boat trip to Telegraph Cove with Stubbs Island Whale Watching. The trip allowed staff to learn about the different types of marine life around the North Island, which will arm them with information about the wildlife guests might see and want to know more about.

The companies who work with travelers on the North Island work to stay connected with other people from the tourism industry. Stubbs Island Whale Watching and other operators offer familiarization trips to tourism businesses every year so that we can stay up to date and give our guests the best experience while also increasing awareness of and promoting our tours and offerings.

On both trips our staff encountered humpbacks, dolphins, porpoises, harbour seals, eagles and deer.

A huge thanks to Karen and the Stubbs Island Whale Watching team for the exciting trip! It was a great team-building opportunity for our staff and has equipped them with knowledge to pass on to guests of the North Island.
