A person who can assist in management of daily Front Office operations and work with customers and Guests as part of a project used to demonstrate capabilities required in the hotel management sector.

Kwa’lilas Hotel is looking for an outgoing and personable self-starter to supervise our Front Office Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist staff with expediting problem payments (e.g., problems processing credit cards).
  • Follow up with guests regarding satisfaction with guest-related issues.
  • Process all guest check-ins by confirming reservations, assigning rooms, and issuing and activating room keys.
  • Process all payment types such as room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit. Set up accurate accounts for each guest upon check-in (i.e., share with, separate room/tax/incidentals, comp).
  • Anticipate sold-out situations and obtain satisfactory alternative accommodations when the property cannot accommodate guests with reservations.
  • Block rooms in the computer and identify designated requirements and requests.
  • Contact appropriate individuals or departments (e.g. Housekeeping) as necessary to resolve guest calls, requests, or problems.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping to track the readiness of rooms for check-in.
  • Review shift logs/daily memo books and document pertinent information in logbooks.
  • Count bank at the beginning and end of the shift.
  • Balance and drop receipts according to Accounting specifications.
  • Assist management in training, motivating, and coaching employees; serve as a role model and first point of contact in adhering to Company Policy process.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures;
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional;
  • maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Anticipate and address guests’ service needs.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language;
  • prepare and review written documents accurately and completely;
  • answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
  • Stand for an extended period of time.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
  • Coordinate bookings and requests with Tours/Groups and Wholesalers/FIT.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Front Desk Supervisor
  • A positive team player attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Must be able to understand both oral and written instructions in English.
  • Neat and tidy appearance as this position deals with the public.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Salary: from $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week

Schedule: 8 hour shifts
