Introducing Jevon Thow – Kwa’lilas Hotel’s New Head Chef
Bringing more than 40 years of experience in the hotel and restaurant field, we’re excited to announce that Chef Jevon is joining the team as the new Head Chef for Kwa’lilas Hotel!
Jevon earned his Certified Chef de Cuisine Master’s Degree in 1994, and has since opened 24 resorts, hotels, restaurants and spas. Most recently, he served as the Executive Chef at the Brentwood Bay Resort in Victoria.
Chef Jevon has won a number of awards throughout his career. He has been Chef of the Year for Vancouver Island twice, worked on the world stage with Culinary Team Canada and won several gold, silver and bronze medallions at Canadian Culinary Competitions. His apprentices have established themselves in the restaurant world in notable destinations such as Paris, London, Dusseldorf and Basel. Jevon is a master of 10 different ethnic cuisines and has diverse experience with fine and casual dining, pub food and catering.
“I am excited to relocate to Port Hardy to be a student of the Elders and their knowledge of First Nations cuisine”, says Jevon. “I have worked all my life to be the best chef I could possibly be and to provide the best culinary memories for my clients. I am truly grateful to have this opportunity to be an instrument in showcasing this amazing cuisine to the community and to the world.”
